Jembe Fund is a nonprofit organization that gives teens an easy way to “shop” for family farmers in poverty-stricken parts of Africa.
I was tired of just talking about causes I support. I really felt the need to DO something instead of just tweeting about it. When I made the commitment to save up for a heifer cow for a family, it became this amazing goal I couldn’t wait to reach. I can’t tell you the feel of joy knowing my donation is making a real world impact.
I’ve never donated before in my life haha this seemed like a great place to start. Seriously I was able to donate a flock of chickens that this family will raise for years for just the cost of a couple of my Starbucks drinks. When I realized how little it cost to make such a positive impact, I couldn’t not do it.
Helping out feels really good, it’s really that simple. When things in this world start getting me down, I realize thanks to organizations like this I am able to make a difference for someone and give them a hand toward having a better life.
